Guwahati, 08 September (HS): Pragjyotishpur University on Tuesday organised a special programme titled ‘Vishwavidyalaya Parivar ko Vishesh Sambodhan’, where Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale addressed students, teachers and members of the university community.

The programme began with a welcome address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, who said the university was committed to preserving, promoting and disseminating Bharatiya Jnana Parampara, Indian culture, traditions and life values. He said the institution aims to connect students with their roots while providing modern and global education and contributing to the creation of a value-based society.

University Chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Rana Pratap Kalita was also present at the programme.

In his special address, Hosabale highlighted the role of education in the development of individuals and society. He stressed the need to integrate Bharatiyata, Indian life values and cultural consciousness into education while fostering a global outlook among students.

He also highlighted key aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including student-centric and experiential learning, skill-based education, character building and value education. Education, he said, should go beyond knowledge acquisition and ensure the holistic development of students while strengthening their sense of social responsibility.

Hosabale congratulated the university’s first batch of students and said they would have a special and lasting place in the institution’s history. He appreciated the efforts of teachers and students and described the university as an institution established through collective and non-profit efforts.

A tree plantation programme was also organised during the event, with Hosabale and RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini member V. Bhagaiah planting saplings.

Registrar Dr Debabrata Khanikar proposed the vote of thanks.-----------
