
New Delhi, 08 September (H.S.): Delhi Deputy Mayor Dr Monica Pant on Tuesday inspected Ward 194 in Gharauli to assess issues related to civic amenities, sanitation and traffic management in the area. During the inspection, she directed the concerned departments to ensure immediate action, in accordance with established rules, against encroachments, illegal dairies and stray cattle roaming on roads.
The inspection began at Amma Block, near Ashirwad Apartment, in G.D. Colony, A-Block, Gharauli. The Deputy Mayor assessed the situation on the ground, interacted with local residents to understand their concerns and also inspected the GBB Point.
Taking note of the impact of encroachments on public spaces in the area, Dr Pant directed the concerned officials to identify encroachment sites and take action on a priority basis in accordance with the prescribed rules, with the objective of making the area encroachment-free. She said no form of unauthorised occupation of public spaces would be allowed to obstruct civic convenience or the proper functioning of the area.
Taking a serious view of the adverse impact of illegal dairies on sanitation and public health, Dr Monica Pant directed the concerned departments to take all necessary action within their respective jurisdictions in accordance with the applicable rules.
In view of the risk of road accidents, the Deputy Mayor directed officials of the Veterinary Department to take immediate action to apprehend stray animals and ensure their management in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
Dr Monica Pant said the problems of encroachments, illegal dairies and stray animals on roads were not confined merely to sanitation, but had a direct bearing on traffic, the environment, public health, civic safety and the overall quality of life in the area. She emphasised that an effective resolution of these issues should not remain limited to action taken during inspections, but must focus on permanent and systematic solutions.
She directed the concerned officials to ensure time-bound action on all issues identified during the inspection.
The Deputy Mayor further instructed the officials to conduct regular reviews of the action taken in the area so that permanent solutions to the identified problems could be ensured and their recurrence prevented.
Local councillor Priyanka Gautam, East Zone Deputy Commissioner Azharuddin Zaheeruddin Qazi, officials from various departments and public representatives were present during the inspection.
