08 Sept (HS): A serious security lapse

has come to light during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event at Nita Mukesh

Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. Two

suspects have been detained by the Mumbai Police from the premises of the

event, one of whom was found to be carrying a fake Prime Minister's Office

(PMO) identity card. Interestingly, the young man claimed to be a senior

officer in the PMO. The discovery of a gun on the private bodyguard

accompanying him has sent security agencies into a tizzy.

The

Mumbai Police detained the 24-year-old man, Rohan Parekh, from the NMACC area.

Parekh was in high spirits at the venue. He had gained access to security,

saying he was an officer in the Prime Minister's Office. However, his movements

were found to be suspicious and he was questioned by special security guards

and the police. On checking his PMO ID card, it was found to be fake.

More

shocking information has come to light during the investigation. Rohan Parekh

was not alone at the venue. He was accompanied by a private bodyguard. During

the investigation, it was found that the bodyguard was carrying a gun. With

tight security arrangements in place and Special Protection Group (SPG)

protocols in place ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event, the arrival

of a young man with a fake ID and a gunman at the venue has raised serious

questions about the security arrangements.

After

this incident, the central security agencies, including the Mumbai Police, have

also become alert. Police have detained Rohan Parekh and his bodyguard and

launched an investigation. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch of

the Mumbai Police. Considering seriousness of the issue, the entire case has

now been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation.
