New Delhi, September 07 (H.S.): The Congress on Monday targeted the Central government over rising prices of essential commodities, alleging that inflation was putting increasing pressure on household budgets ahead of the festive season.

Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said the impact of rising prices was being felt even during a period when families traditionally increase their spending for festivals.

In a post on X, Ramesh said inflation was casting a shadow over the festive season and alleged that the government was imposing fresh price pressures on the public while relying on what he described as “statistical jugglery”.

The Congress leader referred to a media report highlighting concerns over rising prices before the beginning of the festive shopping season. He claimed that higher costs were putting additional pressure on household finances and making it more difficult for families to manage festival-related expenses.
