Bhubaneswar, 07 September (H.S.) : The Odisha government has stepped up measures to ensure structural safety across urban areas following the recent building collapse at Delhi’s Satya Niketan, which has reportedly claimed seven lives.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said weak and unsafe government buildings in cities across Odisha are being identified and demolished. Notices will also be issued for the demolition of private structures found to be structurally unsafe.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mahapatra said notices have already been served for the demolition of several dilapidated school buildings and Anganwadi centres across the state.

The minister further said directions have been issued to remove unsafe structures located within city limits, with authorities instructed to maintain strict vigilance over the condition of buildings.

“We are keeping a strict watch on this matter,” Mahapatra said, stressing that necessary action would be taken to prevent accidents caused by structurally weak building
