Kolkata, 07 September (H.S.). The two-day RISE Conclave 2026 concluded in Kolkata on Monday, bringing together scientists, researchers, academicians, industry representatives, entrepreneurs and start-up stakeholders to strengthen linkages between research, innovation, technology commercialisation and enterprise creation.

The sixth edition of the conclave was inaugurated on September 6 by Dr Jitendra Singh, Vice-President of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences. He stressed the need to strengthen the process of taking indigenous technologies developed in laboratories to the marketplace.

During the inaugural programme, several facilities were inaugurated, technology transfers were undertaken and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. Important compendiums were also released. The conclave recorded a total of eight MoUs, four technology transfers, two product launches and one facility inauguration.

The second day featured four panel discussions and a special lecture on critical minerals and new materials, science communication, science-driven start-ups, manufacturing technology, and traditional knowledge and modern innovation. Experts and industry representatives from organisations including NTPC Mining Limited, Hindustan Copper Limited, Engineers India Limited, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), All India Radio, Emami Limited, TCG CREST, Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd., I Can Nano, MASOJA Techno Solution Pvt. Ltd., Varionhub, Patanjali Research Foundation, Jadavpur University, Himalaya Wellness Company and L’Oréal India participated in the discussions.

The sessions highlighted the importance of stronger research-industry partnerships and explored opportunities for converting scientific research into technologies, products and enterprises.

A special lecture titled “The Lab-to-Market Leap” focused on translating breakthrough research into market-oriented ventures and accelerating the journey from scientific discovery to commercial application.

At the valedictory programme, Dr Kalyan Chakraborti, Cabinet Minister-in-Charge of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, Information Technology and Electronics, and Food Processing Industries and Horticulture, Government of West Bengal, underlined the role of RISE in bringing academia, industry, government, research institutions, start-ups and entrepreneurs together on a common platform.

He emphasised the need to strengthen the journey from research to innovation and from innovation to entrepreneurship. He also highlighted the potential of science and technology to contribute to self-reliance and the goals of Viksit Bharat and Viksit West Bengal.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Bikramjit Basu, Director, CSIR-CGCRI, Kolkata. Dr Naresh Chandra Murmu, Director, CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur, and Prof. Vibha Tandon, Director, CSIR-IICB, Kolkata, also contributed to the proceedings.

The RISE Conclave 2026 provided a platform for sustained engagement among research institutions, industry, start-ups, entrepreneurs and policymakers. The conclave aimed to accelerate the translation of India’s scientific capabilities into technologies, enterprises and practical solutions, contributing to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
