Prayagraj, 07 Sept (HS): On the occasion of National Nutrition

Week, a nutrition awareness program was held on Monday at the PMSSY building of

Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital. The program aimed to make people aware of the

important role of nutrition in a balanced diet, a healthy lifestyle, and

improved health.

During the event, students from

the College of Nursing demonstrated the importance of a nutritious diet through

a street play. Stalls displaying healthy and nutritious foods were set up by

the students, and a poster competition was also held. The stalls featuring

sprouted chickpeas and mung beans were chosen as winners in the food stall

competition. Three participants who excelled in the poster competition were

awarded first, second, and third place.

In his message, Prof. Dr. A.K.

Verma, Principal of Motilal Nehru Medical College, said, A balanced and

nutritious diet is the foundation of a healthy life. Along with preventing and

treating diseases, medical institutions also have an important responsibility

to educate people about proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

The program was attended by

doctors, nursing students and other health workers including Prof. Dr. Neelam

Singh, Dr. Jitendra Shukla, Prof. Dr. Anubha Srivastava, Dr. Arvind Gupta,

Prof. Dr. Dilip Chaurasia, Dr. Khurshid, Dr. Subiya Ansari, Dr. Sharad Chandra

and Dr. Anil Kumar Maurya.

The program was coordinated by

Dietitian Kausain Hafeez Khan, a clinical dietitian and diabetes educator.

Dietitian Kausain explained that National Nutrition Week is celebrated every

year from September 1st to 7th. Its purpose is to increase awareness in society

about proper eating habits, a balanced diet, and a healthy lifestyle.
