The West Bengal government on Monday announced hikes in the honorarium of forest assistants and para-teachers, along with an increase in the allowance of forest guards.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a ₹5,000 monthly increase in the honorarium of para-teachers working in primary and upper-primary schools. The government has also announced a ₹2,000 increase in the remuneration of forest assistants and a ₹5,000 hike in the allowance of forest guards.

According to the Chief Minister, around 1,500 forest assistants across the state will benefit from the revised remuneration. In addition, 20,343 para-teachers working in primary schools will receive the benefit of the increased honorarium.

Adhikari also announced an increase in the honorarium of employees associated with management-related work, saying the decision had been taken keeping the interests of the employees in mind.

The Chief Minister reiterated the earlier announcement regarding the ₹5,000 increase in the allowance of forest guards, stating that the revised benefit would be implemented as announced.

Meanwhile, Adhikari said a special session of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly would be held on September 10. Various important issues are expected to be discussed during the special session.
