Kolkata, 07 September (H.S.) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday morning conducted a search operation at the office of an Urdu newspaper linked to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Nadimul Haque in Kolkata.

A team of ED officials reached the newspaper’s office in the Park Circus area and began a search. The central agency officials are examining documents and other records available at the premises.

Haque is a director of the Urdu newspaper. However, the ED has not yet officially disclosed the reason for the search or provided details about the case in connection with which the operation is being conducted.

The action comes amid heightened activity by central investigating agencies in West Bengal. The agencies have been pursuing investigations and taking action in several cases involving alleged corruption and financial irregularities.

The ED team continued its search and scrutiny of documents at the office. Further details are expected to emerge once the operation is completed and the agency provides information regarding the findings of the search.
