Guwahati, 06 September (HS): A large consignment of liquor was seized near the Sonapur Toll Gate on the outskirts of Guwahati during an operation by the Excise Department.

Acting on a tip-off, an Excise Department team led by officer Pritam Purkayastha intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS01 DD3677. The vehicle was allegedly transporting the liquor illegally from Meghalaya.

The officials seized around 800 cartons of beer from the truck and detained two persons in connection with the case. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the consignment.------------
