Four accused were travelling in a Brezza car; case registered under the NDPS ActFaridkot, 06 September (H.S.) : : The Faridkot police have arrested four men and recovered 4 kg 29 grams of heroin from a Brezza car as part of their ongoing drive against drug trafficking in the district.The arrested persons have been identified as Sandeep Singh alias Seepa, a resident of Harike Kalan village in Muktsar district; Manveer Singh alias Honey of Khara village in Faridkot district; Parvesh of Aman Nagar, Kotkapura; and Vasu Birla of Nanak Nagri, Kotkapura.A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Sadar Kotkapura police station. Police officials said further questioning is underway to establish the source of the recovered contraband and identify others who may be involved in the drug network.According to the police, the action was carried out on the directions of SSP Gurbans Singh Bains. A CIA staff team, led by in-charge Hakim Singh, was conducting patrolling and checking of suspicious persons and vehicles in the area.During the late-evening patrol, the team reached the Kotkapura-Muktsar Road near Khara village. The police noticed a Brezza car parked close to a deserted petrol pump building. Four youths were reportedly standing near the vehicle in suspicious circumstances.On noticing the police team approaching, the youths allegedly rushed towards the car, got inside and attempted to leave the spot. Suspecting their activities, the police immediately stopped the vehicle and carried out a search.The search led to the recovery of 4 kg 29 grams of heroin from the car. All four suspects were taken into custody and subsequently arrested.Police officials said the investigation is continuing. The authorities are now trying to ascertain where the heroin had been sourced from and where the consignment was intended to be delivered. Further action will be taken on the basis of the investigation.
