New Delhi, September 06 (H.S.): Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday extended his support to the ongoing students’ movement in Maharashtra, saying the concerns of thousands of students protesting on the streets are not limited to any single examination or recruitment process but reflect a wider breakdown of trust in the system.

Gandhi said every demand being raised by the students was legitimate in the interest of securing their future and urged the government to listen to their concerns and take immediate action.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said thousands of students in Maharashtra were protesting peacefully and claimed that they were frustrated with the BJP governments at both the Centre and in the state.

He said students were facing a range of problems, including paper leaks, stalled recruitment processes, rising education costs, inhumane conditions in hostels, poor-quality food and alleged fraud in direct benefit transfers.

Gandhi also questioned the credibility of constitutional institutions such as the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), alleging that the institution had been “captured” and that its credibility had consequently been undermined.

He urged the government to act immediately on the students’ demands and said that if their voices continued to be ignored, the protests would grow louder until justice was delivered.

The Congress leader maintained that the students’ concerns deserved an immediate response from the authorities and called for concrete steps to address the issues affecting their education, recruitment prospects and future.
