New Delhi, 04 September (H.S.): The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has rescued more than 3,800 children under a special nationwide campaign against child labour, child trafficking and exploitation. More than 575 First Information Reports (FIRs) have also been registered in connection with these cases.

The campaign, which began on June 12 this year, continued until August 31.

The NCPCR, functioning under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, coordinated with state governments and Union Territory administrations, district magistrates, labour departments, police and other concerned agencies to conduct targeted rescue operations at locations where child labour and trafficking were reported during the campaign.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Commission said officials had been asked to regularly provide information on rescue operations, the number of children rescued, FIRs registered, rehabilitation and restoration measures, efforts to connect children with education, compensation and other action taken under the campaign.

The NCPCR also held meetings with district administrations to monitor the campaign. The meetings focused on reviewing rescue operations, resolving challenges at the ground level, ensuring timely submission of action-taken reports and strengthening coordination among various departments.

The Commission also conducted public awareness campaigns through social media and other communication platforms. These initiatives informed people about the importance of reporting cases of child labour, as well as the need to rehabilitate rescued children and facilitate their integration into mainstream education.
