New Delhi, 04 September (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for setting a new record for the longest uninterrupted tenure of a government in Italy’s post-World War II history.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “Congratulations to my friend, Prime Minister Meloni, on becoming the longest continuously serving Prime Minister in Italy’s post-war history. This achievement reflects the trust and confidence of the people of Italy in her leadership. Her friendship has played an important role in strengthening the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership, and I look forward to continuing our close cooperation to build a prosperous future for the people of our two countries. My best wishes for her continued success in the years ahead.”

It is noteworthy that Meloni has been serving as Italy’s Prime Minister since October 22, 2022. After completing 1,413 consecutive days in office on September 3, 2026, her government became the first in Italy’s post-World War II era, following the establishment of the Italian Republic in 1946, to remain continuously in power for the longest period.

With this achievement, Meloni surpassed the record previously held by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
