New Delhi, September 4 (H.S.): A new initiative aimed at supporting and empowering single mothers is taking shape, with MD Nizamuddin working on the Nari Shakti Forum as a platform to address the social, professional and personal challenges faced by women raising children on their own.

The initiative is being developed as a forum where single mothers can come together, share their experiences and concerns, and access information, guidance and support relevant to their lives.

Nizamuddin said the initiative was progressing rapidly and would focus on practical areas including awareness about government and MSME schemes, legal assistance, moral support and opportunities for women seeking to regain professional and financial independence.

A key part of the proposed work would be to connect women with companies, professionals and people from different fields. Such interactions could help single mothers explore employment, entrepreneurship and other professional opportunities, particularly those who may have had to step away from their careers because of family responsibilities.

The initiative also envisages providing talented women with platforms to present their ideas and abilities. Nizamuddin said opportunities could be created for women to interact with people from relevant professional sectors and receive guidance, encouragement and possible avenues to take their ideas forward.

He said the broader objective was to move the conversation around single motherhood beyond sympathy and focus instead on dignity, opportunity, confidence and empowerment. The initiative seeks to recognise the capabilities and aspirations of single mothers while helping create stronger support networks around them.

The proposed forum would also seek to create greater awareness about the issues faced by single mothers, including financial independence, employment, education, family responsibilities and social acceptance. It would aim to encourage wider discussion on these concerns and help women connect with available institutional and professional support.

Nizamuddin said the initiative was being developed with the idea that single mothers should not feel isolated while managing responsibilities that often have to be handled without adequate support. He said creating avenues for interaction, guidance and professional exposure could help women rebuild confidence and pursue their aspirations.

The Nari Shakti Forum is currently in the process of being developed, with its proposed programmes and support network being worked out. The initiative's effectiveness, once its activities take shape, would depend on participation, partnerships and the support it is able to build around single mothers.

The larger aim, Nizamuddin said, is to create a collective space where single mothers can have their concerns heard while also finding opportunities to strengthen their social and economic independence.
