children jumped from historical Naldurg Fortress in Solapur district into a 100
feet ravine. Ashvini and her son Ajinkya (5) died on the spot, while one of the
twin daughters Kranti (2.6) died during treatment in a hospital. Another

Ashvini’s father has alleged her harassment in her house after her
marriage, because of which she took the extreme step. Ashvini Mohite was
married to Manohar Pol, a rickshaw puller. Ashvini was employed at MSF
(Maharashtra Security Force), but left the job four to five months ago on
Manohar’s insistence.
Ashvini was fondly called ‘Maharashtrachi Waghin’ (Maharashra’s
Tigress), because of her talent in wrestling. She bagged five gold and six
silver medals during her career as sports person and carved out her name at the
national level. Her father supported her and received primary lessons in
wrestling at home. She was winner in national level contest held in Kerala in
2007, and in 2008 and 2009 in Gurudaspur in Punjab and Chennai. She also
performed and attracted attention at the national level in Bhopal, Kanpur,
