Lucknow, 04 Sept (HS): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national
president Mayawati has responded to the government's claim of 7.8 percent gross
domestic product (GDP) growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
She questioned who the people, troubled by inflation, poverty, and
unemployment, should trust. Mayawati said that if the government's presented
growth rate figures are accurate, it's a good thing, but if they're made up,
it's certainly a cause for concern. Therefore, to instill hope in the public,
the government must credibly explain what benefits this high growth rate has
provided to the country's millions of poor, hard-working people, and how much
it will benefit them in the future.
The BSP chief said that GDP growth figures and claims etc.
are in their place, but it is important in the interest of the country and the
people that the crores of hardworking people of the country, who are the real
beneficiaries of development, should also get its benefits and feel it.
State government gheraoed over outsourced employees: Mayawati
also responded to the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to double the
honorarium of outsourced employees and provide security cover to 2 million
people. She said that providing government jobs directly to people would have
been better than establishing the Uttar Pradesh Outsourced Services
Corporation, so that the system would be free from bureaucratic arbitrariness
and corruption.
