Prayagraj, 04 Sept (HS): A five-day farmer training closing

programme for the farmers of Sonbhadra district was organised under the Sub

Mission on Agriculture Extension (ATMA) scheme at the Directorate of Extension,

Sam Higginbottom University of Agricultural Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj.

Director Extension Dr. Praveen Charan talked about the research work of the

university on food grain production through new technologies and informed about

security. He said that with the cooperation of the Uttar Pradesh Government,

the training program for farmers in agriculture and related fields is being

continuously run through the Directorate of Extension, due to which

productivity and quality in the area and the income of farmers is increasing.

While explaining the usefulness of coarse grains to the farmers

during the training, Meena Nathan said that the problem of malnutrition among

rural women and children can be effectively addressed by the daily use of

coarse grains. Dr. Mukesh P. Masih, in-charge of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Prayagraj,

gave information to the farmers regarding the production technology of pumpkin

vegetables through protected cultivation (polyhouse, greenhouse).

On this occasion, Training Coordinator and Scientist Dr.

T.D. Mishra said that in today's modern era, if the economic condition of

farmers is to be improved through farming, then new techniques, new species,

seed purification, pest and disease management, weed management will have to be

done timely, otherwise farmers may have to face losses.

During the conclusion of the training programme, training

literature, certificates, bags, travel allowance were provided to the farmers

and Training Coordinator Dr. T.D. Mishra, Joint Director Extension Prof. (Dr.)

A.K. Chaurasia, Dr. Yogesh Chandra Srivastava, Dr. Sarvendra Kumar, Dr.

Shailendra Kumar Singh, Dr. Shishir Kumar and all the staff of the office were

present.
