Guwahati, 30 September (HS): The Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (AFCSCL) organised a one-day training programme for newly appointed Paddy Procurement Centre (PPC) Managers at the Academic Hall of the State Institute for Rural Development (SIRD), Khanapara, Guwahati, on Wednesday.

The programme was aimed at acquainting the newly appointed managers with procurement procedures, operational requirements and technical aspects involved in paddy procurement across Assam.

Additional Chief Secretary to the Assam Government, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, Biswa Ranjan Samal, IAS, Vice Chairman, AFCSCL, Dewan Dhrubajyoti Moral, Secretary to the department, Anusua Dutta Barua, IAS, and AFCSCL Managing Director Parijat Bhuyan attended the programme along with trainee PPC Managers, district officials and other AFCSCL personnel.

The training covered key aspects of paddy procurement, including farmer registration, assessment of paddy quality, the role of the Agriculture Department, payment of Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers, submission of transportation and godown bills, and milling incentives.

Participants also received training on IT-related aspects of the procurement process through practical, hands-on sessions conducted in two batches. An open discussion was held to address operational challenges and clarify issues faced during procurement.

The programme sought to strengthen the managers' understanding of quality standards, documentation and procurement procedures and ensure effective implementation of paddy procurement operations across the state.-----------
