Aichi-Nagoya, 30 September (H.S.): Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal advanced to the men’s singles quarter-finals at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Uzbekistan’s Sergey Fomin in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.

Nagal remained in control throughout the contest. He secured the opening set 6-3 and maintained his momentum in the second, closing out the match 6-2.

With the victory, Nagal moved to within one win of securing a medal.

It was Nagal’s third consecutive victory over Fomin. The Indian has now won all three of their previous encounters.

Nagal will face China’s Wu Yibing in the quarter-finals. The match is scheduled for October 1.
