30 Sept (HS): The Samajwadi Party

(SP) on Wednesday advanced the electoral process for the Rajya Sabha elections

in Uttar Pradesh with the nomination of two of its candidates. Senior party

leaders Prof. Ramgopal Yadav and Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani filed their nomination

papers with election officials in the presence of SP national president and

former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

was accompanied by party General Secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav, MLAs Ravidas

Mehrotra, OP Singh, and Atul Pradhan, along with several other party leaders

and MLAs. Both candidates submitted their nomination papers and necessary

documents to election officials as per the prescribed procedure. The presence

of SP MLAs during the nomination process also reflected the party's active participation

in the elections.

It is noteworthy

that Prof. Ramgopal Yadav is the Samajwadi Party's national general secretary

and a senior parliamentary figure, and the party has once again fielded him for

the Rajya Sabha. Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani, meanwhile, hails from a prominent

industrial family and sports administration. He is currently associated with

Reliance Industries and has also played a key role in the Gujarat Cricket

Association.

Voting for Uttar

Pradesh's 10 Rajya Sabha seats is scheduled for October 16. According to the

election schedule, the last date for filing nominations is October 6. Based on

the current assembly strength, 37 first-preference votes are required for one

Rajya Sabha seat. The Samajwadi Party (SP) announced the names of two

candidates on Wednesday. The party has yet to formally announce its third

candidate, which has sparked political debate about the SP's future strategy

for the Rajya Sabha elections.
