Guwahati, 30 September (HS): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inspected Sairang Railway Station in Mizoram to review rail infrastructure, passenger amenities and operational preparedness in the area. Senior officials from NFR headquarters and Lumding Division accompanied him during the inspection.

NFR CPRO Kapiñjal Kishore Sharma said the inspection was conducted during which the General Manager reviewed the functioning and development of Sairang station, with particular focus on passenger facilities, operational efficiency, safety arrangements and station infrastructure.

Officials briefed Shrivastava on the facilities available at the station, operational aspects and ongoing as well as proposed development works. The General Manager directed the concerned officials to maintain high standards of cleanliness and passenger convenience and ensure proper upkeep of the facilities.

He also reviewed the station’s operational preparedness and stressed the need to maintain reliable services and good service quality for passengers.

As part of the inspection programme, Shrivastava conducted a window-trailing inspection from Sairang to Bairabi. He reviewed the condition of railway tracks and infrastructure along the section, the progress of electrification works, newly introduced facilities and other ongoing development projects.

The inspection also provided an opportunity to assess further requirements for improving passenger amenities and station infrastructure, considering Sairang’s growing importance as a key railway station serving Mizoram.

The General Manager advised officials to focus on providing passengers with a safe, efficient and comfortable travel experience while ensuring proper utilisation and maintenance of railway assets.

The inspection forms part of NFR’s ongoing efforts to strengthen rail infrastructure, improve passenger amenities and enhance operational efficiency across the region. Regular inspections by senior railway officials help monitor the progress of development works, identify areas requiring attention and ensure that railway facilities are maintained according to prescribed standards.-----------
