New Delhi, 30 September (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated the Geetanjali Fire Station under the ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign. On the occasion, 20 fire-response motorcycles and 26 Quick Response Vehicles (QRVs) were inducted into the Delhi Fire Service fleet. Designed to navigate narrow lanes and congested stretches, the vehicles will enable firefighters to reach emergency sites more quickly and provide immediate assistance.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said her government was committed to ensuring that help reaches every Delhi resident in the shortest possible time during an emergency. She said the government was working continuously to make Delhi safer by strengthening the fire service through modern technology, improved resources and enhanced operational capabilities.

Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood and MLA Satish Upadhyay were present at the inauguration.

Swaraj said the Geetanjali Fire Station was an important step towards further strengthening Delhi’s emergency-response and public-safety infrastructure. She said the newly deployed motorcycles and Quick Response Vehicles would enhance the fire service’s ability to respond swiftly during emergencies.

“Safety is the foundation of public confidence in a vibrant and rapidly developing metropolis like Delhi,” Swaraj said, adding that the speed with which assistance reaches people in a crisis is a defining measure of a safe city.

Sood said the addition of 20 fire-response motorcycles and 26 Quick Response Vehicles would make the Delhi Fire Service faster, more capable and more effective. He said the vehicles would be particularly useful in narrow lanes and areas that are difficult for conventional fire tenders to access, enabling emergency personnel to provide rapid assistance.

He said ensuring that no Delhi resident faces unnecessary delays in receiving emergency assistance remains the government’s commitment.

Upadhyay said the modern fire station, constructed using SPS technology on approximately 3,920 square metres of land, would help provide firefighting assistance within five to seven minutes to several areas in the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency, including Geetanjali Enclave, Saket, Khirki Extension and Hauz Rani.

He said the initiative would further strengthen Delhi’s fire-safety infrastructure and play an important role in enhancing the safety of residents.
