New Delhi, 30 September (H.S.): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and office-bearers, including Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, on Wednesday paid tribute to former Delhi BJP president and veteran parliamentarian Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra on his first death anniversary.

At a memorial programme held at the Delhi BJP office, party leaders garlanded Prof. Malhotra’s portrait and offered floral tributes.

Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra described the occasion as an emotional one, recalling Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra as a senior BJP leader, parliamentarian, former president of the Delhi BJP and a disciplined and dedicated organisational worker.

Harsh Malhotra said Prof. Malhotra had been active in public life since the Jana Sangh era and played an important role in strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level in Delhi. He said simplicity, public service and discipline remained defining features of Prof. Malhotra’s political life.

He also highlighted Prof. Malhotra’s contribution to Indian sports administration. Prof. Malhotra served for more than four decades as president of the Archery Association of India and later headed the All India Council of Sports. He also served as acting president of the Indian Olympic Association from 2011 to 2012.

Harsh Malhotra said Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra’s life represented a commitment to public service, national causes and organisational dedication. He added that Prof. Malhotra’s contributions to both politics and sports reflected the values of integrity, discipline and teamwork.

He said Prof. Malhotra’s absence continues to be deeply felt and that carrying forward his ideals and spirit of service would be a fitting tribute to his memory.

Among those present at the programme were Delhi BJP co-in-charge Darshana Jardosh, senior BJP leaders Jagdish Mukhi, Ved Vyas Mahajan, Subhash Arya, Adesh Gupta, Subhash Sachdeva, Dr. Vijay Jolly and Colonel V. K. Oberoi, along with state office-bearers Vishnu Mittal and Yogita Singh.

MLAs Anil Sharma, Rajesh Bhatia, Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Kailash Jain, as well as Vijay Solanki, Ranjit Kashyap, Richa Pandey, Abhishek Tandon, Manoj Kumar, Raj Gautam, Amit Gupta, Santosh Pal and C. L. Meena were also present, along with other party leaders and workers.

Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, a founding figure of the BJP in Delhi and a five-time Lok Sabha member, passed away on September 30, 2025. He was also a prominent sports administrator, with a long association with Indian archery and national sports administration.
