New Delhi, 30 September (H.S.): Delhi University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh has congratulated DU student and Indian shooter Ashima Ahlawat on winning a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. He said Ahlawat’s achievement has brought pride not only to the country but also to the University of Delhi.

The Vice-Chancellor said accomplishments of this nature serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and encourage students to pursue excellence in sport. He noted that Ahlawat is pursuing her Master’s degree at the Delhi School of Economics (DSE), University of Delhi.

Providing details of Ahlawat’s sporting achievements, Dr Anil Kumar Kalkal, Director of Sports at the University of Delhi’s Sports Council, said she was also a member of the DU women’s shooting team that won the team gold medal in the trap event at the All India Inter-University Shooting (Women’s) Tournament held at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, Punjab, in April 2026.

Ahlawat also won the individual silver medal in the same event, Kalkal said.

At the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Ahlawat teamed up with fellow Indian shooters Neeru Dhanda and Manisha Keer to win the silver medal in the women’s trap team event. The Indian trio finished second in the competition, adding another major international achievement to Ahlawat’s growing sporting record.
