Raipur, 30 September (H.S.): The Chhattisgarh government has approved rules providing 10 per cent reservation for former Agniveers in recruitment to certain Class III government posts, opening opportunities for them to join state services after completing their military tenure.

The Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, approved the Chhattisgarh Public Service Ex-Agniveer Soldier Recruitment Rules, 2026, paving the way for implementation of the reservation provision for former Agniveers.

Under the new rules, eligible ex-Agniveers will be entitled to reservation in recruitment to the posts of Constable in the Police Department, Forest Guard in the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Jail Guard in the Jail Department.

Former Agniveers who have completed four years of military service will be eligible to participate in the prescribed recruitment process, according to the rules.

The rules specify eligibility criteria, recruitment norms, reservation provisions, selection procedures and conditions of appointment and service for former Agniveers seeking government employment in the state.

The decision provides a structured recruitment framework for eligible former Agniveers to apply for identified Class III posts in key departments after completion of their four-year military service.
