Guwahati, 30 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that police had launched a late-night operation against suspected illegal cattle transportation in Kokrajhar district, rescuing 14 cattle and detaining four persons.

In a social media post, Sarma said the operation was conducted by the police of Gossaigaon and Bagribari. During the preliminary inquiry, the persons allegedly failed to produce valid documents for the cattle or provide a satisfactory explanation regarding their transportation.

The Chief Minister said further legal action was being taken in accordance with the law. He also reiterated that attempts to carry out illegal cattle transportation would be dealt with through enforcement action.------------
