Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday released the ‘Raksha’ document on defence diplomacy in New Delhi, outlining India’s strategic roadmap and vision for global defence partnerships over the next 10 years. The document reflects an evolution in India’s strategic engagement, aimed at promoting long-term stability and mutual growth.

The roadmap places emphasis on strengthening strategic partnerships, expanding joint military exercises and training programmes, and sharing best practices with friendly countries to deepen bilateral and multilateral security cooperation. It also focuses on promoting the Make in India defence platform to establish India as a trusted global hub for defence manufacturing.

In addition, the document calls for strengthening India’s role as a security provider and first responder in the Indian Ocean Region under the broader framework of maritime security. It underlines that defence diplomacy is a key pillar of India’s foreign policy.

The document provides a clear and actionable vision for the coming decade, with the objective of ensuring that India remains an important contributor to peace, stability and a rules-based international order amid the evolving global environment.

Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs Rudrendra Tandon, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ajay Kochar, Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs and the National Security Council Secretariat, were present on the occasion.
