Hooghly, 03 September (H.S.): An FIR has been registered against Trinamool Congress Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee and several other leaders at Serampore Police Station following a complaint lodged by BJP leader and barrister Kabir Shankar Bose.

According to Bose, he was living in a rented house in the Ballavpur area of Serampore on December 6, 2020, when his residence was attacked in the evening.

Bose, who had also contested the Serampore seat as a BJP candidate, alleged that his complaint was not accepted at the time. He said that with a new government in the state, he now expects justice in the case.

Serampore Police have registered a case under multiple sections and initiated an investigation into the allegations.

Police have also arrested one person in connection with the case. The arrested person, however, has claimed that the case against him is false and alleged that he has been wrongly implicated. He said the truth would come out during the investigation.

The police are currently investigating the allegations and examining the role of those named in the FIR.
