New Delhi, 03 September (H.S.):

A workshop on water management organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saw representatives from 14 states share their experiences and discuss measures for better water conservation and management.

Senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe briefed the media about the workshop and said it was organised with the objective of making the functioning of various departments dealing with water more effective and improving water management practices across the states.

According to Sahasrabuddhe, the Central Government had earlier organised a conference of Water Resources Ministers from all states. The BJP workshop commenced following the conclusion of that conference. The workshop was inaugurated by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, following which sessions on various subjects were held on Thursday.

He said 25 Water Resources Ministers from 14 states participated in the workshop. The participants included ministers handling departments related to water, including irrigation, rural drinking water, drinking water and sanitation, and public health engineering.

The first session of the workshop focused on “Effective Ministerial Establishment”, discussing ways to make the functioning of ministries more efficient. Subsequently, experts provided an overview of the current status of India’s water resources and the challenges associated with them under the theme “India Water Story”.

Sahasrabuddhe said another session was held on improving coordination and relations between the party organisation and the government. Other sessions will also deliberate on several important issues related to water management.

He said the workshop aims to improve the functioning of water-related departments in the states, facilitate the sharing of experiences and help formulate effective strategies for water management. After the conclusion of the workshop, all participating ministers will implement the new insights and experiences gained during the programme in governance in their respective states.
