Guwahati, 03 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday highlighted the state’s performance in justice delivery and crime control following the implementation of the new criminal laws from July 1, 2024.

In a social media post, Sarma said Assam has consistently maintained its position among the country’s top-performing states, recording a performance rate of 92.16%, significantly higher than the national average of 74.86%.

He said the achievement reflects the steps taken to make the state’s justice system stronger, modern and more citizen-centric.

According to the Chief Minister, Assam has also achieved 100% implementation in the successful rollout of the new criminal laws, application of model codes and seamless exchange of information among various agencies involved in the criminal justice system.

Sarma attributed the improvement to the effective use of technology, modernisation of investigation procedures and better coordination among different agencies. These measures, he said, have made the justice delivery process faster, more transparent and effective.

“Our goal is to hear every victim, pursue every case with sincerity and accountability, and ensure timely justice for every citizen,” Sarma said.---------------
