New Delhi, 29 September (H.S.): A key meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state and Union Territory in-charges and co-in-charges is being held at the extension of the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday under the chairmanship of BJP national president Nitin Nabin. The meeting is the first gathering of the newly appointed in-charges and co-in-charges following the party’s recent organisational reshuffle. Discussions are focused on strengthening the organisation, preparations for upcoming elections and the party’s programmes and future strategy. National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, Harish Dwivedi and other in-charges and co-in-charges appointed for 28 states and eight Union Territories have arrived for the meeting.

## Special Focus on Poll-Bound States

The current organisational position of the party in different states, progress of party programmes and grassroots organisational activities are being reviewed. Emphasis is also being placed on preparing an action plan to further activate the organisation in the coming months.

The meeting is giving special attention to preparations in states that are scheduled to hold Assembly elections. The organisational situation, participation of workers and preparations at the booth level in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and other poll-bound states are being reviewed. The central leadership is also seeking updates from the respective in-charges on the political and organisational situation in their states and discussing the way forward.

## Discussion Already Held at Tawde’s Residence

The party recently appointed Vinod Tawde as its in-charge for Uttar Pradesh. Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, Medha Kulkarni, Pradeep Verma and Anant Ojha have been appointed as co-in-charges to assist him. The appointments are part of the BJP’s organisational reshuffle covering 28 states and eight Union Territories.

In view of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and taking the party’s programmes down to the booth level. A meeting of the newly appointed in-charges was also held at Vinod Tawde’s residence on Monday evening.

## Key Meeting on Uttar Pradesh to be Held in Mathura

A two-day organisational meeting concerning Uttar Pradesh is proposed to be held in Mathura on October 3 and 4. Senior state leaders are expected to discuss the organisational situation and preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. BJP national president Nitin Nabin is also scheduled to attend the meeting. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding and further strengthening the party organisation.

The meeting is also reviewing coordination between the government and the organisation in BJP-ruled states. The role of the organisation in taking Central and state government schemes and programmes to the public is being assessed. The party’s public outreach campaigns and the participation of its workers are also among the key subjects under discussion.

It may be noted that the BJP announced new in-charges and co-in-charges for 28 states and eight Union Territories on September 23. Several senior leaders were assigned responsibilities for different states as part of the organisational reshuffle. Ram Madhav was given charge of Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu, Sunil Bansal was appointed in-charge of West Bengal and Telangana, while Smriti Irani was given responsibility for Haryana and Chhattisgarh. Harish Dwivedi was appointed in-charge of Bihar and Karnataka. Baijayant Panda was assigned Maharashtra, Tarun Chugh Gujarat, and Satish Poonia Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.

The meeting, being held after the organisational reshuffle, provides the newly appointed in-charges an opportunity to coordinate with the central leadership on their respective state responsibilities and upcoming organisational programmes.
