New Delhi, 29 September (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday extended their warm congratulations and best wishes to Indian athletes Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer, who won the silver medal in the women’s trap team event at the Asian Games 2026, as well as Murali Sreeshankar, who won the silver medal in the men’s long jump.

President Murmu wrote on X, “Warm congratulations to Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer on winning the Silver Medal in the Women’s Trap Team event at the Asian Games 2026. Your precision and concentration have brought you this success. I hope you continue to achieve many more memorable accomplishments in the future.”

Rajnath Singh said the achievement was a proud moment for India. He congratulated Murali Sreeshankar on winning the silver medal in the men’s long jump at the Asian Games 2026 and wished him continued success. He expressed hope that Sreeshankar would scale greater heights, set new records and continue to inspire the country’s youth through his outstanding performances.

It may be noted that the Indian women’s trap shooting team won the silver medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Tuesday. Neeru Dhanda also kept India’s medal hopes alive by advancing to the final of the women’s individual trap event. Neeru subsequently went on to win the individual gold medal, becoming the fifth Indian gold medallist at the Games.

Murali Sreeshankar won the silver medal in the men’s long jump on Monday with a best effort of 8.07 metres. China’s Yuhao Shi won gold with 8.17 metres, while Uzbekistan’s Anvar Anvarov took bronze with 8.06 metres.
