Bhubaneswar, 29 September (H.S.): The Odisha government will organize the ‘Seva Setu’ campaign across the state from October 1 to 10 to ensure easy, simple and speedy access to government services and welfare schemes for eligible citizens.

The initiative is being undertaken as part of the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign, which is being observed from September 17 to October 17 to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra is the state coordinator of the ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign.

Explaining the objective of ‘Seva Setu’, Dr. Mahapatra said the initiative aims to bring various Central and State government schemes and services closer to citizens by providing information, registration facilities, application support and other assistance at a single location.

With the theme “From Citizen to Beneficiary—All Services at One Place,” the campaign will focus on identifying eligible citizens and connecting them with the welfare schemes and public services for which they qualify. ‘Seva Setu’ camps will be organized at the block level in every Assembly constituency, where citizens will receive information and assistance regarding relevant Central and State government schemes.

Citizens visiting the camps will be assisted in registering for eligible schemes, submitting applications and completing necessary formalities. The initiative is also expected to reduce the need for repeated visits to different government offices to access welfare benefits.

In addition, ‘Seva Setu Kendras’ will be established in every block and Assembly constituency to provide information and assistance relating to government schemes, services and facilities under one roof. The centres will also facilitate beneficiary registration, application submission and other necessary processes.

A detailed programme calendar has been prepared for every Assembly constituency and block to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign. Arrangements have also been made for the appointment of nodal officers, preparation of databases of eligible beneficiaries, inter-departmental coordination and deployment of the required manpower and logistics.

The campaign will facilitate the identification of eligible beneficiaries and help ensure that government schemes and essential services reach the intended beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner. Guidance will also be provided on scheme eligibility, verification and approval procedures.

Dr. Mahapatra said the government’s endeavour was to further strengthen public outreach and ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes of both the Central and State governments reach the last person in society.

He further said the campaign was not merely a government programme but represented a long-term commitment towards strengthening public service delivery. The government seeks to create a new culture of service across every block, panchayat and village, strengthen its connect with citizens and accelerate development through public participation, he added.

From October 1 to 10, citizens will be able to access information, registration facilities, application support and other necessary assistance relating to various government schemes and services at a single location through the ‘Seva Setu’ initiative. As an integral part of the ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign, the programme aims to bring government services closer to the people and ensure that eligible citizens receive the benefits intended for them.
