Meerut, 29 Sept (HS): Police have increased security around

a mosque in the Kesarganj Mandi neighborhood here after a video leaked on

social media showing a Hindu organization leader declaring plans to recite the

Hanuman Chalisa outside the mosque on Tuesday, police said. As a preventive

measure, police have posted more cops outside the mosque and increased

patrolling.

Pinky Chaudhary, the national head of a Hindu organization, declares in the

video that he intends to perform the Hanuman Chalisa near the mosque. Police

have intensified monitoring in the region to avoid any unwanted incidents.

Zubair, the mosque's'mutawalli' (caretaker), went to the Senior Superintendent

of Police's office to lodge a complaint and demand action. He also encouraged

police to maintain peace and order in the neighborhood. Police claimed building

on the upper level of the Kesarganj Mandi mosque was suspended about a month

ago after local shopkeepers filed a protest. The footage appeared amid

developments surrounding the matter.

Vinayak Gopal Bhosale, Superintendent of Police (City), stated that more

policemen had been put outside the mosque, and patrols had been boosted. He

stated that police are monitoring local social media information and actions. Maintaining

law and order is the first concern, and no one will be permitted to take the

law into their own hands, Bhosale declared. Police have urged locals to remain

calm and reject unconfirmed information and rumors.
