Guwahati, 29 September (HS): An exchange of fire was reported between personnel of the Assam Rifles and suspected insurgents along the India-Myanmar border in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to preliminary reports, the incident took place at Pangsau Pass, where personnel of the 21 Assam Rifles came under an alleged ambush. The attackers are suspected to be cadres of the NSCN(KYA), with the involvement of ULFA (Independent) also being suspected.

One Assam Rifles personnel was reportedly killed in the attack, while four others sustained injuries. However, yet to be officially confirmed. Further details regarding the incident and the identities of those involved are awaited.------------
