New Delhi, 29 September (H.S.): Global markets are showing signs of weakness today. U.S. markets closed lower in the previous session, while Dow Jones futures are also trading under pressure at present. European markets ended the previous session on a mixed note. Meanwhile, most Asian markets are witnessing selling pressure today.

U.S. markets remained under pressure in the previous session amid a rise in crude oil prices in international markets and higher Treasury yields. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 347.11 points, or 0.67 percent, to close at 51,481.51. Similarly, the S&P 500 fell 0.77 percent to end the session at 7,683.69. The Nasdaq dropped 248.34 points, or 0.92 percent, to close at 26,820.38. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were trading 0.13 percent lower at 51,413.25.

European markets, which remained under pressure throughout the previous session, closed mixed. The FTSE index declined 0.10 percent to close at 10,684.88, while the DAX fell 0.13 percent to end at 25,374.42. In contrast, the CAC managed to close marginally higher, gaining 0.01 percent to 8,078.48, supported by buying towards the end of the session.

Asian markets are also showing a weak trend today. Of the nine major Asian markets, eight indices are trading in negative territory, while one is showing a marginal gain. The Shanghai Composite is the only index currently trading higher, up 0.08 percent at 3,826.51.

Meanwhile, GIFT Nifty was trading 129.50 points, or 0.57 percent, lower at 22,695. The SET Composite Index declined 0.50 percent to 1,594.42. Japan’s Nikkei index was witnessing a sharp decline, falling 754.62 points, or 1.15 percent, to 65,123.

The Hang Seng Index was also under sustained pressure, declining 215.51 points, or 0.87 percent, to 24,427. Similarly, the KOSPI was down 0.81 percent at 6,833.67.

The Taiwan Weighted Index fell 319.55 points, or 0.67 percent, to 47,705.05, while the Jakarta Composite Index declined 0.38 percent to 6,124.42. The Straits Times Index was also trading lower, down 0.16 percent at 5,713.62.
