New Delhi, 29 September (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the Barapullah Phase-3 Flyover in Delhi today. With the opening of the project, commuting from East Delhi to South and Central Delhi is expected to become easier.

The approximately 3.5-kilometre-long corridor, stretching from Mayur Vihar Phase-I to Sarai Kale Khan, will provide motorists with a new alternative route apart from ITO, Ring Road and DND. The entire 3.5-kilometre stretch will be signal-free, with no traffic obstruction in between.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Public Works Minister Parvesh Verma, along with other elected representatives and officials, will be present on the occasion.

The project is expected to provide relief to people travelling to South Delhi daily for work and other purposes. It will also reduce dependence on existing routes for reaching Sarai Kale Khan. Residents of Laxmi Nagar, Shakarpur and Patparganj will also have a new route to South Delhi. Vehicles from these areas will be able to access the corridor via Mayur Vihar.

The new route is expected to ease traffic pressure towards Vikas Marg and ITO. Motorists from Anand Vihar, Karkardooma and Vivek Vihar, as well as Vasundhara Enclave and Dallupura, will also have an alternative route to South Delhi.

The Delhi Traffic Police has announced traffic diversions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in view of the inauguration ceremony of the Barapullah Phase-3 Flyover. Hundreds of people are expected to attend the event. According to the police, traffic movement around Sarai Kale Khan, Maharani Bagh and Ashram Chowk is likely to be affected.

The police have advised Delhi residents to avoid travelling through these routes during the specified period.
