Aichi-Nagoya, 28 September (H.S.): Defending champions India defeated South Korea 3-0 in the group stage of the men’s squash team event at the Asian Games 2026 on Monday to secure a place in the quarterfinals. With the victory, India finished at the top of their group.

Velavan Senthilkumar got India off to a winning start, defeating South Korea’s Na Jooyoung in straight games, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7. Velavan maintained control of the contest from the opening game to give India a 1-0 lead.

Abhay Singh then defeated Ryu Jeongmin 11-4, 11-7, 11-1 to extend India’s advantage to 2-0. Abhay comfortably won the opening game and continued to raise his level as the match progressed to seal the victory.

With the tie already decided in India’s favour, Veer Chotrani completed a comprehensive 3-0 victory by defeating South Korea’s Oh Sojin 11-6, 11-4, 11-2.

India had earlier defeated China 3-0 in their opening group-stage encounter. With two consecutive victories, the Indian team finished at the top of the group and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Following this victory, India’s medal tally at the Asian Games 2026 rose to 40. India now have four gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals and are currently placed 12th in the medal standings.
