Aichi-Nagoya, 28 September (H.S.): The men’s cricket quarter-final between India and Afghanistan at the 2026 Asian Games was washed out due to rain. Persistent rainfall and a waterlogged outfield forced the match to be officially abandoned, with not a single ball bowled.

Although the rain eventually stopped, the ground could not be made fit for play. Officials subsequently decided to call off the match. As India had the higher seeding, the team advanced directly to the semifinals.

India will now face the winner of the quarter-final between Sri Lanka and Nepal in the semifinal.

Earlier, Pakistan also advanced to the semifinals after its quarter-final against Hong Kong was abandoned due to rain. Pakistan will now face the winner of the quarter-final between Bangladesh and Malaysia in the semifinal.

As a result, both Asian Games quarter-finals were decided without a ball being bowled due to rain, with India and Pakistan securing their places in the semifinals.
