Aichi-Nagoya, 28 September (H.S.): Pakistan’s men’s cricket team advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Asian Games after their quarter-final against Hong Kong was abandoned due to rain. Not a single ball could be bowled between the two teams at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Led by Sahibzada Farhan, Pakistan had received a direct entry into the quarter-finals, while Hong Kong secured its place in the last eight after finishing second in a group featuring Malaysia and Oman. As Pakistan were the higher-seeded team, they were awarded a place in the semifinals after the match was abandoned.

Pakistan will now face either Bangladesh or Malaysia in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, India and Afghanistan are facing each other in the second quarter-final. India are the defending champions and entered the contest as the higher-seeded side. With persistent rain continuing, weather conditions could also affect the outcome of this match.
