New Delhi, 28 September (H.S.): The Delhi Election Commission has decided to organise special camps at universities, colleges and educational institutions across the national capital on September 29 and 30 to facilitate the addition of names to the electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) announced the decision through a press note issued on Monday.

According to the CEO, during the SIR exercise in Delhi, individuals who receive notices do not need to visit the offices of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for hearings. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit the homes of the concerned individuals, collect the required documents and upload them on the ECINet platform. The ERO will subsequently take a decision, with online hearings to be conducted only in special cases. If a hearing is required, the elector may authorise any member of their family to appear on their behalf.

The CEO held a meeting with all District Election Officers on Monday and directed them to ensure strict implementation of the decision. He said that special camps were being organised continuously across the national capital. The decision to hold camps at universities, colleges and educational institutions on September 29 and 30 to facilitate the addition of names to the electoral rolls is part of these ongoing efforts.

The CEO said the last date for filing claims and objections during the SIR exercise is October 30, while the final electoral roll will be published on November 4.
