Kamrup (Assam), 28 September (HS): Guwahati MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi on Monday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting of Kamrup district, reviewing the progress of major infrastructure and development projects across the district.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Diganta Kalita (Kamalpur), Rekibuddin Ahmed (Chamaria), Raju Mesh (Boko-Chhaygaon) and Himangshu Shekhar Baishya (Palashbari), along with Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra.

The committee reviewed the Guwahati Ring Road project, including its plan and latest developments. The progress of the second Saraighat Rail-Cum-Road Bridge was also discussed, with officials highlighting challenges and bottlenecks affecting its timely completion.

The implementation of VB-G RAM G and other development schemes was also reviewed. Representatives of NHIDCL, National Highways, PWD (Roads & Buildings), Agriculture, Health & Family Welfare, Social Welfare, Education and other departments presented updates on ongoing projects, achievements and implementation challenges.

Medhi directed officials to ensure that projects are completed within the stipulated timelines. She stressed that development works should not cause unnecessary inconvenience to the public and called for prompt resolution of bottlenecks.

She also emphasised coordination with the concerned MLAs to address public-related issues effectively and urged all stakeholders to extend cooperation for timely completion of projects.

DC Mishra called for close coordination among departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of development schemes.

The meeting was attended by Kamrup Zila Parishad President Nipon Bhuyan, CEO Siddhartha Goswami, ADCs Geetashri Lachit and Biswajit Saikia, CDCs Nabajit Pathak, Priyangshu Bharadwaj and Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita, besides senior officials from various departments.-----------
