New Delhi, 28 September (H.S.): Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in Doha on Monday. Ambassador of India to Qatar Srikar K. Reddy welcomed Sitharaman at Hamad International Airport. During her two-day engagement in Doha, the Union Finance Minister will participate in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the AIIB Investors’ Dialogue 2026.

The Ministry of Finance said in a post on the social media platform X that during her visit, Sitharaman will attend the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors being held in Doha from September 28. She will also hold important bilateral meetings with the President of AIIB and her counterparts from Jordan, Switzerland, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Nepal.

The ministry said that at the annual meeting, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will participate in her capacity as India’s Governor on the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. India is the bank’s second-largest shareholder. As part of her official visit, the Finance Minister is also expected to meet the leadership of the Qatari government and interact with Qatari business leaders and investors.

It may be recalled that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on a three-day visit to Doha, accompanied by a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Finance, to participate in the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB and the AIIB Investors’ Dialogue 2026.
