
Guwahati, 28 September (HS): Assam Police arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 262 grams of suspected heroin from his possession during an anti-narcotics operation in the Seuj Nagar area of Guwahati.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the information in a social media post on Monday. According to the Chief Minister, a team of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate intercepted and apprehended the accused while he was allegedly carrying the narcotic substance.
The seized suspected heroin is estimated to be worth around ₹2 crore. The recovered substance has been taken into custody and further legal action in connection with the case is underway.
The Chief Minister described the operation as a significant success in the state’s ongoing campaign against drugs. He said Assam Police would continue its efforts to curb the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances across the state.------------
