Sept (HS): Agitation against the functioning of the Election Commission of

India by Congress party has started in various parts of Maharashtra. Congress

has alleged that the ECI is functioning on the directions of the ruling

Bharatiya Janata Party government in the country. The party has demanded

resignation immediately by Chief of the ECI Gyanesh Kumar.

In Pune

demonstrations were staged in front of the District Collector’s office under the

leadership of Pune City Congress Committee President Prashant Jagtap.. Congress

has also alleged removal of crores of voters from the electoral list labelling

them as ineligible even after objections raised by other members of the

Commission.

Kolhapur: District Unit President Satej Patil and City Unit

President Pravin Kesarkar led the agitation in Kolhapur and alleged lack of

transparency in the functioning of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and demanded his

resignation.

A memorandum

of the demands was handed over to the District Collector Dr Vijay Rathod.

Patil said in the name of SIR crores of names of voters were deleted. In

democracy conducting elections if fair manner is very important. The ECI has

lost its credibility by becoming a puppet in the hands of the rulers. Gyanesh

Kumar, should immediately resign as differences among members of the Commission

have come to the fore. Two members of the ECI Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek

Joshi have objected to Gyanesh Kumar’s decisions, which they alleged were

biased.

Parbhani: Parbhani District President and MLA Babajani

Durrani led the agitation in Parbhani and demanded resignation of the CEL and

his arrest for being angti-national.

A

memorandum of demands was submitted to the district Collector.

Nagpur: A large number of Congress workers staged

demonstrations against Gyanseh Kumar and demanded his arrest. In the mane of

SIR many eligible voters have been labelled ineligible to vote.

After

staging the demonstrations the workers handed over a memorandum to the District

Collector.
