New Delhi, 27 September (H.S.): Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh was on Sunday accused of slapping a young man during an inspection of a road in Tilak Nagar. The alleged video of the incident subsequently went viral, prompting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to target the Delhi government.

AAP national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shared the purported video of the incident on his social media account on X, describing the incident as “hooliganism” and alleging that the minister publicly slapped the youth after he pointed out corruption in road construction. He said he would visit Tilak Nagar on Monday to inspect the road.

The youth, who claimed to be a social media handler for MLA Jarnail Singh, said he had come to the area after being called by the PWD Department to show the condition of a road. He claimed that he pointed out how the surface of the road was deteriorating. The youth alleged that the minister could not tolerate the information being brought to his attention and assaulted him, while also threatening to kill his associates.

AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar Jarnail Singh said Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh slapped the youth who was recording the incident. He said he had expected the minister to inspect the road, assess its quality and possibly take action against the officials concerned. According to Singh, the minister had asked him where the road was damaged. When he showed him that the entire surface of the road was peeling away “like a carpet”, the minister allegedly slapped the youth who was recording the incident instead of taking action. He demanded action against the minister.
