Gadchiroli, 27 September (H.S.): At least 525 people have been shifted to safer places in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district after heavy rains in neighbouring Chhattisgarh over the past three days triggered flooding in residential areas, roads and highways, officials said on Sunday.

Two national highways and a state highway passing through Bhamragadh remained closed on Sunday due to floodwaters, officials said.

The heavy rains in Chhattisgarh led to a rise in water levels in areas bordering Gadchiroli, affecting road connectivity and prompting authorities to move residents from vulnerable locations to safer places.

Officials said relief and safety measures were being undertaken in the affected areas.
