Guwahati, 27 September (HS): Assam Fire and Emergency Services has added a ₹10.9-crore turntable ladder to its fleet, strengthening its preparedness for rescue operations in high-rise buildings.

The newly inducted equipment will enable fire and emergency personnel to carry out rapid rescue operations at considerable heights, particularly in densely populated urban areas where access to upper floors can be challenging.

The turntable ladder can reach a height of up to 42 metres, allowing rescue teams to quickly access people trapped in elevated floors during fires and other emergencies. The addition is expected to enhance the department’s capacity to respond to incidents involving high-rise structures and improve the safety of residents and emergency personnel.

With the latest equipment, Assam Fire and Emergency Services has further strengthened its specialised capabilities for dealing with emergencies in tall buildings.
