Aichi-Nagoya, 27 September (H.S.): Indian athletes Murali Sreeshankar and David Patturaj Solomon secured their places in the men’s long jump final at the ongoing Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Sunday.

Sreeshankar finished second in Qualification Group B with a best effort of 7.84 metres, while David Solomon finished third in Qualification Group A with a best jump of 7.62 metres. The final will be held tomorrow, September 28.

Sreeshankar recorded a jump of 7.67 metres in his first attempt and 7.08 metres in his third. His second attempt, measuring 7.84 metres, proved to be his best and secured his place in the final. David recorded 7.61 metres in his first attempt, while his second attempt of 7.62 metres was his best.

India also registered success in the women’s 400m hurdles. Indian athletes Vithya Ramraj and Anu Raghavan finished second in their respective heats to qualify for the final. Vithya clocked a season-best 55.73 seconds, while Anu produced a personal best of 55.84 seconds. The final will be held tomorrow, September 28.

India’s Santosh Kumar Tamilarasan also qualified for the men’s 400m hurdles final after finishing second in his heat with a time of 49.61 seconds. His compatriot Yashas Palaksha could not complete his heat.
